CASE Ezine - Fourth Edition - July 2008
Welcome: Happy Birthday St. Paul! |
Welcome to our summer ezine. We hope that this season will be one of recreation in the full sense of the word for all our readers. The weather may be variable, but the news is hot: the year of St. Paul has begun. This great model for all evangelists is thought to have been born 2000 years ago this year. Our website has all sorts of ideas for celebrating this year, or just for exploring what St. Paul means to the Church: follow the link to http://www.caseresources.org/stpaul.htm. In his own words: “Woe to me if I do not preach the Gospel” (1 Cor. 9:16). In this edition:

Yfaith Launch |
www.yfaith.co.uk is CASE’s new website for 10-13 year olds, and the countdown to its launch has begun - 7th September 2008. In our final few weeks we will be working alongside our focus groups to add the finishing touches. The site includes more than 20 interactive pages, with quizzes, competitions, online prayer groups, interviews with teenagers who are a ‘Step Ahead’, and the opportunity to ask questions. Matthew, aged 12, from one of the focus groups, said: "It's easy to understand. The things they say you can relate to, whereas at Mass sometimes it can be hard to understand." Meanwhile Lorraine, aged 11, said: "I think it is really good. It tells us about things that you want to know and what other people have said." There are great opportunities for young people to write for the site, and there’s still time to join our team of adult volunteer editors! More… |

Testimony: Gangland To Promised Land |
Among the many moving features in our new Life4seekers magazine is a testimony from ex-gangster, John Pridmore, whose life changed dramatically after he heard "what I can only describe as a voice". Like a significant number of people who get in touch with the Catholic Enquiry Office, John had little faith background, but somehow he felt that God was inviting him to change his life. His testimony shows that it is God who draws people to himself, irrespective of their background and past, and his story highlights the responsiblity of us all to proclaim the reality of God's unconditional love and mercy. Event: Evangelium |
18-35? Looking for ways to explain the Catholic Faith to today’s culture? A key element of engaging with the New Evangelisation, is exploring new means and methods of communicating the Good News in a way that’s relevant to its hearers. The Evangelium Conference for young adults is an occasion to engage with this challenge. There will be dynamic talks and opportunities for discussion (including a CASE workshop), set in a prayerful and relaxing environment. This is also a moment for meeting with other young Catholics, and together taking part in sport, evening entertainment and river cruises! The conference is taking place in August 8-10th in Henley. Free Resource: Evangelising Through Local Events |
The summer holidays are a time for celebrating local events – food or music festivals, carnivals, parades – all of which can be great evangelistic opportunities. How could you or your parish make sure that there is a Catholic presence at these events, raising questions for people, and being available to offer answers? From opening the doors of your Church, to taking part in outreach on the high street, there are a host of simple ideas in our leaflet ‘Evangelising through local events’. For your free copy of the leaflet, please e-mail us your name and address (title the e-mail ‘free leaflet’): info@caseresources.org.uk |
